Benefits the Reno–Sparks Gospel Mission & the Washoe County School District
Reno Harley-Davidson, request your support for “Klothes 2 Kids”. This charity helps underprivileged high school teens in the Washoe County School District acquire NEW clothing year round. Our goal is to raise $30,000 this year with donations from the local businesses, local residents and the motorcycle community.
“The money is spent purchasing gift cards from ROSS Inc. and with the help of our friend Heath Morrison, the Superintendent of Washoe County Schools, they are distributed so that hundreds of local teens can purchase the clothing they need to have a better self image when they go to school.” says Reno Harley-Davidson “Clothing is such a big part of your personality and self esteem, especially at that age. We just feel it is extremely important for these kids to concentrate and learn in school and they need to feel good about themselves and feel good about the way they look.” It takes a large burden off of local families who struggle to make ends meet with the high cost of housing and gas.
The event is our Annual Poker Run that will take place on Saturday, June 26th. Event starts here at the Dealership before taking off on your motorcycle for a scenic ride and ending up back at the Dealership for a party.
Here are some comments about the K2K program:
Rick Redding (Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission): “K2K started in a parking lot on a cold Saturday morning 13 years ago as a way to give school clothes to a few needy families. It's blossomed into a community event that's helped thousands of children by giving them new clothes and helping their families reduce escalating costs. But K2K is more than just clothing. It's about the community coming together to give children hope and help with their self-esteem.”
Steve Mulvenon (Director of Communications & Community Outreach): “The initial Klothes 2 Kids project has been a resounding success and we look forward to a long partnership. Literally hundreds of students have benefited and we owe the community a huge heartfelt ‘thank you’.”
…”now I don’t have to wear my dad’s shoes anymore.” – Student
…one student was trying to get out of a gang but all she had to wear were gang colors, received a gift card for new clothes.
Reno Harley-Davidson, the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission and Washoe County School District Thank You for your generous contribution and look forward to seeing you at this years event!
